Indianapolis Colts vs Los Angeles Rams

The matchup at SoFi Stadium was billed as a test of composure for both sides — and it delivered. Indianapolis, riding a three-game win streak, opened with confidence as Anthony Richardson led a balanced first-half attack. Jonathan Taylor pounded the ball on the ground to keep the Rams’ front seven honest, while Michael Pittman Jr. made contested catches to move the chains. The Colts went into halftime tied, showcasing their ability to trade blows with a team that many view as a Super Bowl contender.

Momentum appeared to swing fully toward the Colts in the fourth quarter when Richardson connected with Pittman Jr. for a touchdown that put Indianapolis ahead 20-13. On the very next drive, Adonai Mitchell looked like he had delivered the dagger with a highlight-reel 76-yard catch and run — only for the ball to come loose just short of the end zone, resulting in a crushing touchback. That single play shifted the tone of the game completely, giving Los Angeles Rams new life.

From there, Matthew Stafford showed why he is one of the NFL’s most clutch quarterbacks. He went into hurry-up mode, spreading the ball to Cooper Kupp, Kyren Williams, and breakout star Puka Nacua, who finished with a career-best 13 receptions for 170 yards. The tying touchdown came courtesy of a laser to Nacua in the back of the end zone, capping a 75-yard drive that silenced the Indianapolis sideline.

The knockout blow came with just 1:33 left on the clock. Facing a blitz, Stafford stepped up and launched a perfect strike to Tutu Atwell, who outran the Colts’ secondary for an 88-yard go-ahead touchdown. The stadium erupted as the Rams took a 27-20 lead. Indianapolis had one last chance to respond, but safety Kam Curl intercepted Richardson’s deep pass attempt on the ensuing drive, putting the game on ice.

In the aftermath, the Colts were left to rue three turnovers and 11 penalties that killed their chances of staying unbeaten. Richardson still threw for 292 yards with two scores, but the mistakes were too costly. The Rams, meanwhile, moved to 3-1 and reestablished themselves as an NFC powerhouse. Stafford’s 375-yard, three-touchdown performance was the story of the night, while Atwell’s 88-yard sprint will be remembered as one of the early season’s most electric plays.
