Chicago Bears vs Las Vegas Raiders

The Chicago Bears and Las Vegas Raiders delivered one of the most dramatic games of the 2025 NFL season on Sunday, September 28. Playing in front of a raucous Allegiant Stadium crowd, the Raiders opened strong, with Geno Smith leading a smooth first-quarter drive that ended in a touchdown to put Las Vegas ahead 7–0. Chicago struggled early, settling for field goals and falling behind 14–9 by halftime. But the tone of the game shifted coming out of the locker room, as the Bears’ defense — led by Tyrique Stevenson — forced a key interception that gave them new life.

The Bears capitalized quickly after Stevenson’s pick, with rookie QB Caleb Williams finding Rome Odunze for a clutch touchdown strike that gave Chicago its first lead of the afternoon, 16–14. The Raiders answered with authority, marching 80 yards on a balanced drive before Smith connected with rookie back Ashton Jeanty for a 9-yard touchdown reception. Las Vegas briefly regained control of the game, but the lead continued to flip as the fourth quarter approached, keeping both fan bases on edge.

In the final period, Las Vegas appeared poised to put the game away after Daniel Carlson drilled a 29-yard field goal to make it 24–19 with under seven minutes left. But Williams and the Bears weren’t finished. Mixing short passes with bruising runs from D’Andre Swift, Chicago orchestrated a determined drive downfield. Swift capped it off with a 2-yard touchdown plunge with just 1:34 remaining, swinging the game back in Chicago’s favor for the fourth lead change of the day.

The drama didn’t stop there. Las Vegas Raiders mounted one last desperate drive, setting up a potential game-winning 54-yard field goal attempt. But rookie special teamer Josh Blackwell broke through the line and blocked the kick with just 33 seconds on the clock, sending the Chicago sideline into a frenzy. The Bears knelt out the clock to secure a thrilling 25–24 road victory, leaving the Raiders stunned on their home turf.

Statistically, Las Vegas had standout performances, with Jeanty rushing for 138 yards and scoring twice through the air in what could have been a breakout game. But the Bears’ defense forced four turnovers, including three interceptions of Geno Smith, which proved decisive. Caleb Williams threw for over 250 yards and a touchdown, while Swift’s late-game heroics highlighted his value to Chicago’s offense. The win improved Chicago to 2–2 on the season, while Las Vegas slipped to 1–3, now facing a crucial stretch to stay relevant in the AFC playoff race.
