Houston Texans vs Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars earned a hard-fought 17–10 victory over the Texans at EverBank Stadium, surviving a tense fourth quarter and capitalizing on key Houston mistakes. Jacksonville struck first thanks to a pass interference penalty on Derek Stingley Jr., setting up Bhayshul Tuten’s 1-yard touchdown run. That early momentum allowed them to control the tempo through most of the first half, forcing Houston into field goals and short drives.

Houston struggled to find rhythm on offense, and Stingley’s early rib injury made matters worse, weakening their secondary. He briefly attempted to return but was ruled out for the remainder of the game, a blow that Jacksonville’s passing attack exploited with timely completions from Trevor Lawrence. The Texans managed to stay within striking distance, but penalties and missed opportunities stalled promising drives.

Momentum briefly swung Houston’s way in the fourth quarter when C.J. Stroud connected with Nico Collins on a 50-yard touchdown to tie the game 10–10. The strike ignited the Texans sideline and gave them a chance to steal a road win. However, the Jaguars answered with composure, leaning on Travis Etienne Jr. to cap off a crucial late drive with a 10-yard rushing score that put them back on top.

With under two minutes remaining, Houston had one last chance to mount a comeback. Stroud guided the Texans across midfield, but disaster struck when Josh Hines-Allen tipped a pass that landed in the hands of safety Antonio Johnson for a game-sealing interception. Jacksonville’s defense celebrated on the field as the home crowd erupted, sealing the victory and sending the Texans to their third straight loss.

This result moves Jacksonville to 2–1 and keeps them competitive in the AFC South race, while Houston falls to 0–3 and faces growing pressure to right the ship before the season slips away. Stroud’s chemistry with Collins remains a bright spot, but turnovers and red-zone inefficiency continue to be costly. For Jacksonville, the win highlighted their ability to close games late — an encouraging sign for Doug Pederson’s squad heading into Week 4.
