The Dallas Cowboys wrapped up their preseason in convincing fashion, overpowering the Atlanta Falcons 31–13 at AT\&T Stadium. Rookie quarterback Joe Milton III stole the spotlight with his athleticism, scoring on a rushing touchdown in the first quarter before dropping a 29-yard strike to Jalen Brooks after halftime. With Dak Prescott sitting out, Milton’s performance gave Cowboys fans a glimpse of depth and creativity at the quarterback position heading into the regular season.
Dallas set the tone early with balanced offense and explosive plays. Running back Jaydon Blue, making his preseason debut, found the end zone on a short-yardage score, doubling the Cowboys’ lead in the first quarter. Kicker Brandon Aubrey added to the highlight reel with a booming 64-yard field goal before halftime, sending the crowd into a roar and reinforcing Dallas’ edge on special teams.
The Falcons managed to claw back briefly, thanks to Easton Stick’s steady presence under center. Stick engineered a drive capped by a touchdown pass to tight end Feleipe Franks, along with a field goal from Younghoe Koo that trimmed the deficit to 14–10. But Atlanta’s momentum was short-lived, as the Cowboys defense regrouped and the offense once again found rhythm to stretch the lead.
Defensively, Dallas put on a statement performance in the second half. Rookie linebacker Shemar James came up with a game-sealing interception, while James Houston made his presence felt with consistent backfield disruption. Their energy not only shut down Atlanta’s comeback hopes but also underscored how many young defenders are pushing for bigger roles in the Cowboys’ system.
For Atlanta, the night ended with more questions than answers. Stick finished with 198 yards and a touchdown but couldn’t overcome protection issues and an offense that stalled too often in key spots. The Falcons now turn toward roster cuts with an 0–3 preseason record and several unsettled positions. Meanwhile, Dallas exits August with confidence, buoyed by emerging playmakers and the assurance that their depth is ready for September.
